Improving our children’s futures

Improving our children's futures by empowering parents and carers.

Stronger representation. Greater influence. Trusted support and guidance.

By parents. For families.

The National Parents Alliance is being created as an independent national membership organisation for parents and carers.

We're building something that can support families individually and strengthen their collective influence - providing trusted information and guidance, connecting parents with support and expertise, gathering evidence about their experiences, and representing and advocating for their interests where change is needed.

And we want parents, carers and organisations that share our purpose to help shape it from the start.

Registering for our Founding Community is free and takes only a moment.

Who Can Get Involved?

Individual parents and carers

NPA membership will be for individual parents and carers with children and young people under the age of 25. This includes families across different circumstances and every stage of the journey through childhood, education and the transition into adult life.

When an existing member's youngest child reaches 25, their relationship with NPA won't simply end. They will be invited to continue through a dedicated Continuing Membership category, recognising their previous membership and contribution while enabling them to remain involved.

Organisational Affiliates

We also want to work alongside organisations, groups and networks whose work or purpose is relevant to children, parents, carers or family life.

Eligible organisations will be able to become NPA Organisational Affiliates - retaining their own identity and independence while connecting into a wider national parent and family network.

Individuals become members. Organisations become affiliates.

Affiliation will not mean that an organisation endorses every NPA position, or that NPA endorses every position or activity of an affiliate. Organisational affiliation will not give an organisation greater influence simply because it is larger or better funded.

Individual parents and carers will remain at the heart of NPA.

Why Register Now?

Because we don't want to decide what parents need and then launch it at them.

We're building NPA with parents and carers.

People who register now will become part of our Founding Community.

We'll keep you informed as NPA develops and give you opportunities to help shape what comes next - the issues we investigate, the questions we ask, the support families need and the services and benefits we develop for NPA members.

Organisations registering an interest in affiliation will also be kept informed as we develop the Organisational Affiliate model and the ways in which appropriate organisations can connect with and contribute to the wider NPA network.

You might answer a survey, share an experience, contribute professional expertise, volunteer or simply follow our progress.

You decide how involved you want to be.

There is no cost to register and no obligation to become a paying member or Organisational Affiliate later.

What Happens Next?

We're putting the foundations in place for NPA to become a permanent national organisation for parents and carers.

listening to parents and carers about what they need and the issues that matter to them;

developing our research and evidence programme;

building practical information, guidance and parent-navigation services;

developing relationships with organisations, specialists and experts who can support families;

developing our Organisational Affiliate model and wider parent-network infrastructure;

building the technology, communications and operational infrastructure needed for a national membership organisation; and

developing the first package of NPA member services and benefits.

We aim to launch NPA membership before Christmas 2026.

Everyone in our Founding Community will hear about the offer as it develops and will be invited to take the appropriate next step when membership and affiliation open.

Registering today does not commit you to taking out paid membership or affiliation.

Why Will NPA Membership Have A Small Annual Fee?

Because independence matters.

We want NPA to be accountable first and foremost to the parents and carers who choose to belong to it.

A genuinely independent national organisation also needs sustainable funding.

Technology, research, communications, information resources, member support, professional expertise, administration and advocacy all require infrastructure - and infrastructure costs money.

A strong national organisation cannot be built on goodwill alone.

When full NPA membership launches, we therefore intend to introduce a small, affordable annual membership fee.

A broad base of individual members will help us build useful services for families while protecting something fundamental:

NPA's independence.

NPA may also receive donations, grants, sponsorship or other appropriate funding as it develops. But financial support must never buy control over our research, priorities, advocacy or decision-making.

Funding can support NPA's work. It cannot buy NPA's voice.

Our ambition is to build an organisation that is financially sustainable, independent in its judgement and accountable to its members and purpose.

Could You Help Us Build NPA?

NPA is an ambitious undertaking. We want to build a permanent national organisation capable of supporting, connecting and advocating for parents and families across the country.

We can't build it alone.

NPA has begun with a small Founding Team, but to turn the ambition into reality we're going to need the involvement, ideas, experience and expertise of many more parents, carers and supporters.

For now, we simply want to know who might be interested.

There's no commitment at this stage. When we're ready to develop our volunteer team and opportunities, we'll contact you with more information.

Be There At The Beginning

We're building something we believe has been missing: a permanent, independent national organisation through which parents and carers can be supported, connected, represented and empowered.

Stronger representation. Greater influence. Trusted support and guidance.

Better informed. Better connected. More involved. More influential.

By parents. For families.
